Freedom Riders (USA, 2010, 120 minutes, color) A core group of riders created a precedent setting relationship with the Forest Service and in doing so created the first freeride specific trails on public lands in the lower 48. "Freedom Riders" looks at the evolution of the sport, the progression of trail users, and an inside story of a group of riders that would never see their passion die.

Tuesday, February 14, 6:30pm
Rejoice & Shout (USA, 2010, 115 minutes, color) Rejoice and Shout traces the evolution of Gospel through its many musical styles - the spirituals and early hymns, the four-part harmony-based quartets, the integration of blues and swing into Gospel, the emergence of Soul, and the blending of Rap and Hip Hop elements. Gospel music also walked in step with the story of African-American culture - slavery, hardscrabble rural existence and plantation work, the exodus to major cities, the Depression, World War II, civil rights and empowerment. Rejoice and Shout connects the history of African-American culture with Gospel as it first impacted popular culture at large. Years in the making, Rejoice and Shout captures so much of what is special about this music and African-American Christianity - the sermonizing, the heartfelt testimonials, getting slain in the spirit, the hard hollering, and of course the inspiring music. --(c) Magnolia

Tuesday, February 21, 6:30pm
The Black List: Volume Two (USA, 2009, 90 minutes, color) The acclaimed project from creators Elvis Mitchell (formerly of the New York Times) and Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, The Black List films record intimate conversations with a diverse group of prominent African Americans with the aim of archiving their stories for preservation. This second film in the series profiles a varied group, including activists Marjora Carter and Angela Davis, author and minister T.D. Jakes, actor Lawrence Fishburne, directors Tyler Perry and Melvin Van Peebles, comedian Maya Rudolph, musicians Charley Pride and RZA, and artist Kara Walker. The subjects volunteer their own insights into the arcs of their lives and the personal and social significance of their successes and failures. "From the childhood inspirations that shaped their ambitions, to the evolving American landscape they helped define, to the importance of preserving a unique cultural identity for future generations, these prominent individuals offer a unique look into the zeitgeist of Black America, redefining the traditional pejorative notion of a blacklist." Tuesday, February 28, 6:30pm
Hoxie: The First Stand (USA, 2003, 56 minutes, color) Following the Supreme Court's 1954 ruling on Brown vs. The Topeka Board of Education, the all-white school board of Hoxie, Arkansas decided to voluntarily integrate its school district the following fall. The Hoxie schools were the first in the South to attempt to integrate in the wake of Brown, and they did so peacefully; apart from the presence of a Life Magazine photographer, the opening of the schools was uneventful. It was this easy transition that frightened the newly-formed White Citizens Council into descending upon the town to terrorize white and Black citizens alike and organize a boycott. The tactics failed and students and School Board of Hoxie stood firm before the threats of the agitators. The film is a testament to a community that was willing to put everything on the line to obey the law.

Megadeath Presents Gigantour The legendary lineup for this incredible concert includes metal heavyweights MOTÖRHEAD, Danish hard rock rising stars VOLBEAT, and female-fronted Italian gothic metal act LACUNA COIL. With nine Grammy nominations under their belts and having enjoyed five consecutive Platinum and multi-Platinum RIAA certifications, as well as seven Gold certifications during their career, Megadeth need no introduction. They've essentially written the book on heavy metal and hard rock. “Gigantour” was founded by Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine in 2005 and was last seen in the U.S. in May 2008. Mustaine founded the tour in 2005 and invited such artists as Anthrax, Dream Theater, Fear Factory, Lamb of God, Opeth, Static-X and In Flames to join Megadeth in the past. Megadeth’s thirteenth album – appropriately titled TH1RT3EN – is out in stores and online today via Roadrunner Records. One of the most influential metal groups of all time, Motörhead's overwhelmingly loud and fast style of heavy metal was one of the most groundbreaking styles the genre had to offer in the late 1970s. Led by iconoclastic front man Lemmy, the Grammy Award-winning band has spawned numerous tribute albums and fan clubs while selling over 30 million albums worldwide since their self-titled debut album released in 1977. Motörhead plans to release a new live performance film on DVD in January 2012 called The World Is Ours – Vol. 1, Everywhere Further Than Everyplace Else which features footage from their Santiago, Chile concert recorded this past April. Denmark-based Volbeat plays a fusion of rock and roll, heavy metal, punk and rockabilly. Their latest release, Beyond Hell/Above Heaven, was subject to widespread international critical acclaim, receiving double platinum in Denmark, platinum in Finland, and gold in Sweden, Germany, and Austria. Their headlining US club tour over the summer was an incredible success and their newest single “A Warrior’s Call” is currently charting on active rock radio.
